Previously established techniques for alpha counting have required a large sample of ceramic material, normally hundreds of milligrams. A new alpha counter has been developed especially for museum object thermoluminescence (TL) authenticity measurements. Samples as small as nine milligrams may be used. Performance tests and results from radiometric standard material as well as ceramic samples are presented. -- AATA
