Abstract
The relative corrosivity of different types of wood, due to the emission of acetic acid vapors in the presence of moisture, is tabulated. The importance of contact corrosion affecting metallic fasteners and nails in permanent structures is shown; the use of stainless steel or aluminum alloys is recommended for long service. -- AATA
