Abstract
Romano-British coin finds are frequently grouped by date of minting into issue periods. This paper examines the suitability of these periods for use as variables in multivariate statistical analyses, with particular reference to the problems of comparing coin finds from different sites. It is concluded that grouping coins by their individual issue types would provide the most suitable variables for such analyses. -- AATA
