Abstract
From the Staatliche Sammlung Ägyptischer Kunst in München 165 statuettes and tools were analyzed by means of atomic absorption spectrometry. It was found that for casting statuettes in the late period exclusively, bronzes of considerably varying compositions were used. The amounts of copper vary between 65 and 100%, of tin between 0 and 14%, of lead between 0 and 27%. The melting-point of the bronzes as well as cross-sections through the metal were studied. Finally the different types of patinas and the sand cores of hollow casts were analyzed.
