Glass, frit, and faience objects were examined using proton-induced x-ray emission (PIXE) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Differing concentrations of opacifiers and colorants in material from two sites, Beth Shou at the juncture of the Jezreel and Jordan Valleys, and the Baq'ah Valley on the Transjordanian plateau suggest two technological traditions. A local Syro-Palestinian industry shows an accommodation to Egyptian practice at Beth Shan, following its conversion to an Egyptian garrison. -- AATA
