Abstract
While insects are well preserved in waterlogged archaeological deposits, other arthropods (centipedes, millipedes, woodlice) are not. Under certain conditions, the latter are converted to calcium carbonate-replacement fossils. Finds from twelve British sites are described, and the mechanism of calcification is discussed. -- AATA
