Abstract
Amine cured Epikote 828 (bisphenol A type) epoxy formulation studied by dilatometry, bending of metallic strip, photoelasticity, measurement of gel fraction and of elastic modulus. Contraction takes place throughout the curing, stresses are created only after gelation. Total contraction 3.6%, 0.9% after gelation (by volume). Values of the stresses varied with the measurement method: 1.1 kg cm-2 when resin relaxed, 47 kg cm-2 when resin contraction restrained. -- AATA
