The article deals with the author's investigations into various recipes for encaustic paints based on wax-resin. He employs many kinds of resin and various waxes and measures each combination in terms of hardness, flexibility and workability on the palette. He goes into detail over proportions of ingredients and their availability. He also briefly discusses ancient uses of encaustic paint and probable recipes. -- AATA
