The Ashanti people of Western Africa weave narrow strips of cloth that are sewn together at the selvages to form a fabric called kente. When the bands are alternated with strips of hand printed, commercially woven fabric, the resulting material is known as adinkra cloth. A simpler method of obtaining a similar effect using a four-harness loom is described. -- AATA
