In Denmark and northern Germany, many remains of textiles from early periods have been found, preserved, and examined. The earliest finds go back to the Bronze Age. From later periods, especially the migration period, and the Middle Ages, there are many finds which show a great variety of spinning and weaving techniques. By that, the types of looms can be reconstructed. In the later periods, distinct regional variations of textile techniques become obvious.
