The psalter of Bamberg, a manuscript from the 13th century, has a delicately painted wooden cover, protected by a thin layer of horn which was destroyed in some areas by rusty iron nails. To repair the damage on the horn according to old techniques, sheets of horn were prepared and fixed on the missing parts with silver nails. The book itself was restored according to the usual techniques. -- AATA
