Comments are made on Color Kit Availability Noted (Cichorz, Roger S., <i>The American Philatelist, 42, No. 5, p. 442, May, 1978) and on Charac terization of the Genuine Stamps, Reprints and Forgeries of the 1867 and 1868 Issues of Roman States by Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (Tyler, Varro E., and Garnet E. Peck, <i>The American Philatetist, 92, No. 6, pp. 580-586, June 1978). The author points out that the color kit described by Cichorz was developed as a joint effort of the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) and the U. S. National Bureau of Standards. Its official name is ISCC-NBS Centroid Colors. The purpose of ISCC is to stimulate and coordinate work of its members leading to standardization, description and specification of color, and promotion of practical application of this work. The author states that Tyler and Peck address a different and potentially useful aspect of applicaton of color science to philately, but the presentation of results was not in standard form for color identification or pigment identification.
