Abstract
A sampler was developed to analyze organic and inorganic components in soil from archaeological excavations. The apparatus consists of a cylindrical tank with brass nozzles at the bottom to introduce air under pressure. The tank is filled with water and a sample of soil to be analyzed is introduced. When the air is connected, the small ascending air bubbles separate the organic and inorganic elements because of differences in sp. gr. Organic material overflows to an annular channel at the top of the tank and inorganic material is withdrawn at the bottom through a butterfly valve. -- AATA
