The objectives of the course are discussed with regard to: 1) the level of skills required by the student's future employer (also defined); 2) the needs of wall paintings conservation in England as well as in other parts of Europe; and 3) the need to upgrade certain aspects of the work, including scientific examination, documentation, diagnosis and monitoring of causes of deterioration, etc. The curriculum presentation includes: 1) the course; 2) need for the course; 3) purpose and philosophy; 4) academic level and duration; 5) admission criteria and student selection; 6) course objectives and structure; 7) syllabus; and 8) assessment.
