This reference book describes 1332 finds of mainly unpublished textile fragments found in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Schleswig-Holstein. They date from 1,800BC to AD1,000 and were often found in association with metals. The author sets out to provide a chronological basis to support the study of prehistoric textiles by charting the finds on distribution and site maps and relating them to possible production and trade centers. Each find is catalogued under geographic location and described in detail. The textiles are analyzed for spin and ply direction, weave type and thread count. The fiber is noted when it is thought to be other than wool. -- AATA
