The authenticity of the Monsoor collection of Amarna art, offered for sale in 1978, is controversial. The article gives the history of the collection, and of Egyptian art from Tel el Amarna, and describes the procedures of the scientific analysis of the collection. There is a controversy between the Mansoor family and scientists, who generally consider the collection authentic, and Egyptologists, who consider most of the collection fraudulent. -- AATA
