Abstract
Accurate electron probe microanalysis with simple reference materials requires the use of the theoretical models describing the emission of direct and indirect characteristic x-radiation, and of an iterative calculation procedure. The presently accepted theoretical equations for the calculation of intensities are presented, with references to the main sources of error. An efficient iteration procedure which uses a hyperbolic approximation to the analytical calibration curve is discussed in detail. -- AATA
