Abstract
The purpose of the exhibition at the Grand Palais Science in the Service of Art was to answer the question What can technology do for art? The exhibition included 150 objects that have been preserved, restored, dated or proven fakes by the techniques of photogrammetry, thermoluminescence and gamma rays, among others. A fake 15th century Siennese Madonna offered a good case for the use of x-ray, infrared photography and microchemical analysis. See AATA 18-63. -- AATA
