Abstract
Certain thermoplastic materials possess excellent optical properties whilst having excellent solvent resistance, high heat-distortion temperatures and resistance to scratching and breakage. Recent advances in surface coating technology improve the abrasion resistance of many plastic materials to a level very close to that of glass, and reduce or eliminate the surface reflection across the entire visible spectrum. Some examples are given. The plastic can be cast, molded, or extruded; and may be a more suitable alternate to acrylics now used in the exhibition of art works. -- AATA
