Abstract
Ultraviolet light has caused significant deterioration in spacesuits worn in the 1965 Gemini 4 mission even though these two suits, hanging in the Air and Space Museum's Milestones of Flight Gallery since 1976, have been protected by a plexiglass shield. A new fabric outer layer, produced by the original manufacturer, will be attached to the original inner layer, and the original outer layer material will be placed in environmentally controlled storage. Gold coating on one helmet visor has also degraded. Those spacesuits in the collection which are not on display are filled with stuffing and laid on horizontal shelving in the special storage area of the Garber facility. -- AATA
