Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees constructed furniture for many national park buildings in the 1930s. The Park Service still has in use several hundred pieces, some finely crafted in regional styles or reproducing period examples. Furniture conservators have selected items under restoration as a first step in preserving the collection.
