Attempts to establish a particular time period for the European Mesolithic based upon a precise dating of tools. Some 250 dates have been established for artifacts in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, but deviations in the dates have posed serious problems in interpretation. Thus an atlas rather than a catalog is set up to report and interpret these dates; the methodology of this work is explained.
