Abstract
The recent addition of tree-ring calibrated radiocarbon dating is examined with respect to the determination of diffusion rates in the obsidian hydration dating technique. The significance for the archaeologist of corrected versus uncorrected <sup>14</sup>C dates in rate determination is presented graphically for three regionally distinct obsidian sources.
