Abstract
This paper deals with the problems of repairing brick masonry, especially with materials used for repair and accomplishment of damaged bearing walls. Methods of analysis of the existing old materials in order to prepare the new ones that can be used for repair - rebuilding brick masonry are referred. In this case the word new means cement and pozzolanic mortars and also bricks produced in Greece, which may be used for this purpose. The research takes into account the existing experience (Laboratory investigations of the chemical and mechanical properties of building materials such as mortars and bricks) and applications in structural restoration in monuments. The authors suggest criteria for selecting appropriate materials for repairing in relation to the composition of mortar and the quality of brick.
