Museums with active loan programs need separate short-term storage areas. Temporary storage should meet the museum requirements of climate control, security and lighting, and be separate from the exhibition staging area. A curatorial vault, a fumigation chamber, and a large vault are also suggested. Generalized sections discuss security, fire prevention, fire detection, fire suppression, construction during renovation and monitoring the use of construction materials.
