Abstract
After a short survey on the spread of the fashion, and the development of the shape of girl's head-dresses, some useful information is given on the correct procedure to follow when finds are excavated and the immediate conservation treatment they should receive. Two of the head-dresses restored were excavation finds. Samples were taken and the materials identified. Cleaning was complicated by the fact that metal and linen were present together. After cleaning and treatment of the metal components, the pieces were reassembled. The third head-dress was not a grave find and had metal decorations on a leather band. It was taken apart, the two materials treated separately, then re-assembled. Cerumbling or missing decorations were replaced with plastic copies. 15 photographs, references.
