Abstract
Researchers are studying textile fabric pseudomorphs, fossilized fabrics, to learn how they are formed, how accurately they reproduce the original fabric, and what they can teach about the technology and culture of the people who created the fabric. In pseudomorphs, mineral compounds replace the organic fibers in a textile, preserving its physical shape. See also AATA 21-1752 for a more extensive study of pseudomorphs.
