Abstract
The drilling resistance measurement is a minimally destructive test method that is going to be an effective way used for consolidation protection of heritage, especially for the measurement of strength and penetration depth. Its main applications in the sand stone, brick as well as earthen materials in the laboratory and in-situ after consolidation with fluorinated polymer have been carried out in this paper. The compressive strength has also been investigated in order to find a correlation between the compressive strength and drilling resistance for untreated and treated materials. The investigation results indicate that the drilling resistance is suitable for the application of consolidation to assess the penetration depth and consolidation strength. It gives drill holes of just 3 mm in diameter, which is its significant advantage for in-situ use. -- MCI
