This paper presents the results of a study on cleaning works of art of different mediums using laser technology. From its initial creation, this technique was trialled at the Instituto de Restauracion de Patrimonio (IRP) (Heritage Restoration Institute), part of the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (UPV), with the aim of understanding how its use can be applied to varying works of art. Valuing both the potential and limitations of laser technology will allow improved methodologies of this promising technique to be established.
