Abstract
The authors studied the conservation of burial pits by one of the follow ing procedures: 1: The surface of a pit is hardened with an acrylic resin emulsion. A ditch is dug around the pit, and the bottom as well as all sides of the pit are covered with concrete. The pit is ready to be moved into a room for conservation. 2: The surface of a pit is hardened with a synthetic resin. The plaster and resin are applied to the whole surface for facing. A ditch is dug around the pit and the sides are strengthened with a wooden frame. The framed pit is cut off from the ground and is reversed and the useless soil removed from the reverse side. The resin is applied to this side and the facing material (plaster and resin) is removed from the surface. The pit is ready to be moved. Procedure 1, having several disadvantages, was used only in the early stage of the authors' study of 15 years, whereas the Procedure 2, was successful. -- AATA
