Abstract
Sources of information on the Maya are given followed by a description of the Mayan calendar. Two calendars, the 260 day sacred calendar or Tzolkin and the 365 day Vague year are described. The Mayans were fascinated by the movements of Venus and the results of their findings are given. The long count is also discussed. Three Mayan centers at Chichen Itza, Uxmal and palenque are described. -- AATA
