Abstract
The properties of a number of thermoluminescence (TL) phosphors are reviewed, and the suitability of the phosphors for measurement of Ü3-rays at archaeological sites is discussed. The energy dependence of their response relative to quartz is considered in some detail. Two phosphors, Al2O3: Si, Na and Mg2SiO4: Tb, have a response that is almost equivalent to that of quartz. Some problems related to field measurements by means of CaSO4: Dy are outlined, and a comparison of CaSO4:Dy with Al2O, in an irradiation unit based on the U bearing rock luiavrite is described. -- AATA
