The legal aspects of historic preservation are fundamental to any historic preservation project. By using the timely and important Supreme Court decision regarding Grand Central Station, the authors are able to present the key legal issues regarding historic preservation for both private and public properties. In addition, the engineers' role in the legal aspects of historic preservation are discussed.
