A brief history of the Glozel controversy leads to an account of recent TL dating of some of the ceramics. Recent TL work indicates that some of the items are ancient and has raised further questions as to the significance of these results. Careful interpretation of the few results obtained so far may suggest a Mediaeval date, but more samples need to be dated. The general reliability of TL has been established; it is hoped that scientific excavation at the site will be carried out. -- AATA
