Fabrication techniques for gold are described as evolving from the first attempts with copper, lead, and silver at the end of the Neolithic period. Macro and microphotographs are used to describe the evolution of techniques employed in Bronze Age Europe (approximately 2000700 BC). Relevant archaeological and environmental information accompanies the technical descriptions, indicating the significance of the presence of copper, tin, and silver.
