The author discusses the use of electron spin resonance (ESR) in the solution of archaeological dating and event problems using various examples from field and laboratory studies. The processes which develop the ESR spectrum are discussed and so are the ways these processes are interpreted for an archaeological investigation. The use of ESR spectroscopy in the interpretation of the evidence concerning the last meal of Lindow Man is among the examples given and the difficulties of interpretation of ESR data in some cases is explained in the light of recent experiments conducted on archaeological material. -- AATA
