The city of Argos in Greece is rich in archaeological remains. The population increase has resulted in more or less anarchic development, and this has created a problem for archaeologists and town planners. The creation in 1980 of a Franco-Greek coordinating team should smooth out the problems between the Ecole française d'Athènes, in charge of excavations in the south district, and the Service of Antiquities. The French team would like to integrate the new districts into the ancient town by turning the agora into a public square and the remains into promenades and by re-using the ancient theater. -- AATA
