The restoration of a double bass attributed to Gasparo de Salo is described; the provision of a stable environment for the instrument is essential before any restoration work should be done; the loan of this instrument, and others, to the Look of Music exhibit prompted restoration to an acceptable appearance. Packing and shipping of the instrument are briefly described.
