The paper describes the research project dealing with the application of ionizing radiation for desinfestation of archives. The main concern in the investigation was devoted to the lowering of the effective dose of radiation to a value which would not cause any harm to paper. The procedure uses a synergetic effect of heat and gamma radiation.
