All means of fire prevention in museums are described in detail. Precautions concerning architectural installations such as the construction of doors, ventilation channels and roofs are distinguished from considerations about the materials of floors, ceilings, showcases and other technical installations. The safe construction of heating systems and electrical installations is explained. All available systems for fire or smoke detection and automatic and personal fire extinguishing are characterized. Finally, administrative prescriptions concerning the regular survey of installations for fire protection, the storage of inflammable materials, the training of personnel are listed. -- AATA
