The author, a former director of the National Gallery of Canada, recalls her ten-year association with Mervyn Ruggles on the occasion of his being elected the first honorary member of the Canadian Group of I.I.C. Ruggles' career at the National Gallery of Canada began before World War II. When he retired, it was as head of its Restoration and Conservation Laboratory.
