Abstract
X ray diffraction and microprobe studies were carried out on samples of limestones from historical building in Anatolia. The results showed an enrichment of dolomite on the exposed surfaces. An hypothesis on the role of clay minerals as ion exchange media in the dolomitisation process is given.
