Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the individual characteristics of each of these metals as used of architectural purposes, the causes and nature of their deterioration, and methods which have been utilized for their preservation and conservation, primarily in the United States. The paper will deal only with large, nonremovable architectural elements which must be treated in situ because of the impracticability of treating them in a laboratory.
