Abstract
Battledores are predecessors to badminton racquets. Each object consists of a white pine frame with parchment stretched over the sides and held in place by small iron nails. The goals of the treatment were to stabilize the tears in the parchment and to restore, as much as possible, the original effect of the whole object. The unpredictable nature of an untanned skin such as parchment necessitated a great deal of experimentation but the overall goals were achieved. -- AATA
