Infrared television was more effective than infrared photography because of the longer wavelength of the former (0.2 mum-2 mum). Application of IR television to study the words written with Chinese ink on paper which had then been covered with Japanese lacquer (Urushi) was given. X-ray radiography was found effective to study structures of gilt bronze stirrups, sword head, iron mirror, and lacquered box, and further to elucidate paintings on wooden panels covered under other panels. -- AATA
