Infrared spectrophotometry and pyrolysis-gas chromatography are two popular, destructive techniques for the structural and chemical analysis of micro (and pico) samples of paint. Because of their destructive nature they are usually thought of as being mutually exclusive. The authors discuss how to successfully perform both analyses using only one sample. -- AATA
