Abstract
The article describes in detail the restoration work carried out on the belfry of the Episcopal Church in Koper, Yugoslavia, which was in a bad state of conservation with cracks and scaly stone. The belfry, originally defensive in character, was cleaned, a special scaffolding was constructed to study the building. It was decided to use mortar of marmorino or scagliola, lime cement, and plasticizer to replace the original mortar. Some weathered stone parts were also replaced. Silicone protection of the facade was not used due to cost and its short-lived effectiveness. The upper octagonal part and gazebo were rearranged. Earthquake safety was ensured through reinforcing of the concrete base of the gazebo plateau connecting the quadrangular part of the belfry, and the inner walls were injected. The mechanism of the church clock was covered by a glass case and the interior of the building lighted.
