Abstract
The possibility of using copper acetate as starting material for the synthesis of Paris green is investigated. Solid arsenic trioxide reacts with a water solution of copper acetate to form Paris green. This reaction can be used for the manufacture of Paris green, in which the acetic acid which is produced is neutralized with calcium carbonate, and the solution of calcium carbonate, and the solution of calcium acetate is returned to the process, reacting with copper sulfate to produce copper acetate. The advantage of this method is the possibility of completely avoiding the use of sodium carbonate.
