Two bitumen lockets of unknown origin and 60 different bitumen objects from the Department of Oriental Antiquities of the Louvre Museum, have been analyzed in the Research Laboratory of the French Museums. Five methods of analysis are described here with diagrams and tables of composition. The evidence of silver in the bitumen nucleus of certain objects is proof of plating at the origin. The presence of silver plating in both lockets places them in the group of siliceous bitumen of Susian origin.
