Study giving a basic understanding of photographic principles and means to identify the processes and their respective problems. The image structure, the support material, the quality of processing, and storage condition are studied. Systems for preserving paper photographs, negative films, black-and-white and colour materials is discussed. A list of references on photographic preservation is given.
